Change channel permissions
Allow or deny a role or a member something in one channel.
server.permissions changes a channel's own rules for one role or member: its permission overrides.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Channel | The channel to change. |
| For a | Role or Member. |
| Who | A role's name (@everyone works) or ID, or a member's ID or token such as {user.id}. |
| Allow | Permissions to allow, picked from the list or typed, separated by commas: Send Messages, Attach Files. |
| Deny | Permissions to deny. |
| Remove the channel's own rules for them instead | Takes their override away, so the server's roles decide again. |
| Audit log reason | The reason Discord records. |
Ways out
out. Turn on If it fails for a red way out.
Notes
- Only what you list changes. Whatever the channel already allowed or denied them otherwise stays.
- A permission the channel neither allows nor denies them comes from their roles, as it does everywhere else.
- The bot needs the Manage Channels and Manage Roles permissions, and can only allow what it has itself.
Example
Lock a channel during an incident: deny Send Messages to @everyone in it. Unlock it later with Remove the channel's own rules for them instead.
