- A gateway bot in a region outside the US and Europe is $3 a month more, including the two that come with the plan.

What needs the gateway
A gateway bot stays connected to Discord. Buildcord tells you why a bot needs one. A bot needs the gateway when any of its flows:
- reacts to server events,
- runs on a schedule,
- uses voice channels,
- changes the bot's status, or
- runs custom code.
Everything else runs on slash commands and button presses, which Discord delivers to the bot without a connection.
