Timeout a member
Stop a member from talking for a while.
member.timeout puts a member in a timeout. They can read but can't send messages, react or join voice until it ends.
Settings
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Member | Who to time out. See Members. |
| For | How long: pick 60 seconds, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day or 1 week, or type a length such as 30m, 1h 30m or 2d. A token works too, such as {option.length}. Up to 28 days. The default is 10 minutes. |
| Audit log reason | The reason Discord records. |
Ways out
out. Turn on If it fails for a red way out, which is also taken when the length can't be read.
Notes
- The bot needs the Moderate Members permission.
- A timeout ends by itself, so it's a gentler choice than a kick. End a timeout ends one early.
- The canvas shows
For 10 minutes, or the length you chose. - Older flows stored lengths such as
10 minutes; they still read the same.
Example
A /mute command with a text option length: time out {option.member} for {option.length}, so a moderator can type 45m.
